Sorghastrum nutans is a warm-season grass that is native to the tallgrass prairies of North America. It is a perennial grass that grows in clumps and has long, narrow leaves that turn yellow in the fall. The plant produces tall, slender stems that can reach up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) in height and bear large, feathery seed heads in late summer and fall.
